Coming from a prominent family in Richmond, Virginia, she grew up with a backdrop of tennis courts and swimming pools and made her debut at the Bal du Bois. After attending The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, she moved to New York and graduated from Columbia College, quickly landing a job at Vogue.
As one of the most photographed socialites in New York, Tinsley’s love for fashion translated into her many successful business endeavors. In 2006, she debuted a handbag line, Samantha Thavasa, and became a Christian Dior beauty ambassador with her own lipstick color, Tinsley Pink. The following year, her clothing line, Riccimie by Tinsley Mortimer, became wildly successful in Japan.
Tinsley’s rising popularity scored her roles in shows like Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model. She’s been featured in magazines like Vogue, Marie Claire and Harper’s Bazaar and even published her very own novel, Southern Charm, in 2013.
Currently, Tinsley lives in the Upper East Side of New York City and manages her own housewares line. After being asked to join the cast of The Real Housewives of New York, she signed on and began filming.
